Extended deadline for the Destination Lincolnshire Tourism Awards – you now have until midnight on Sunday July 16th to submit nominations. More information including, an application guide, the award categories and how to enter can be found HERE.

Support for first time events in North Kesteven

Under the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), £12,000 is being offered to fund new events in the district, to engage the community, with the aim to improve pride in place. It must be the first time the event has been held and it must be located in North Kesteven.

This fund will run until the fund it is exhausted or no later than December 2023, all funds must be spent by March 2024. This fund will open again in April 2024. For further information or any queries, please email [email protected].

If you own a tourism business in North Kesteven, we encourage you to enter this years Destination Lincolnshire Tourism Awards. There are 15 individual categories, they can be found on the categories page via the link below.

All award winners will receive a prestigious trophy and framed certificate. Some category winners will be invited to represent Lincolnshire in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence competition for 2024. Last years awards saw, the North Kesteven based, International Bomber Command Centre make it through to the England Tourism Awards.

SMEs and older workers learning workshop

The Centre for Ageing Better and Lincolnshire partners are bringing together SMEs to share learning around the recruitment and retention of older workers. Workshops are being held to bring together SMEs to share learning around the recruitment and retention of older workers.

During the workshop, businesses and organisations will hear about practical tips and guidance that they can use following the day. They will also have the opportunity to share their views and experiences about the challenges of implementing age-friendly employment policies, and the kinds of support that they think would help them.

The workshop will be held in person on Monday 3 July at 36 Orchard Street, Lincoln LN1 1YL from 09:30-12:00

River Slea Flood Resilience Project

There are two upcoming community drop-in events for the local community to meet members of the project team and discuss The River Slea Flood Resilience Project. These will be held at Riverside Church, Southgate, Sleaford, NG34 7RY. on the following dates:

This is a great opportunity for the local community to meet members of the project team, and discuss:

  • The River Slea Flood Resilience Project
  • Operation and maintenance of river structures
  • The River Slea catchment
  • Flood risk in and around Sleaford
  • Community resilience and flood warnings

North Kesteven Heritage Grant Scheme

Grant assistance of between £1,200 and £3,000 is now available for works to historic buildings in North Kesteven. Funding is available to both residential and commercial buildings, and the aim of the scheme is to preserve and enhance the District’s built heritage by encouraging the sympathetic repair of historic buildings. A scheme total of £25,000 is available and works eligible for grant assistance include the repair, restoration or reinstatement of original windows and doors, brickwork and stonework repairs and repointing, repairs to chimneys and the repair or reinstatement of traditional boundary walls, railings and steps.

Grants are available for 80% of the total cost of eligible works for Listed Buildings (to a maximum grant of £3,000), 60% of the total cost of eligible works for buildings in a Conservation Area (to a maximum grant of £1,800) and 50% of the total cost of eligible works for properties included on the Council’s ‘local list’ of non-designated heritage assets or where they meet the criteria for inclusion (to a maximum grant of £1,200). Further details of the Council’s local list including the listing criteria can be viewed on our local list of non-designated heritage assets webpage.

Works not eligible for grant include the installation of UPVC windows and doors, cosmetic redecoration, general maintenance works and the reinstatement/replacement of non-original architectural features.

Sleaford Shopfront Grant Scheme

Grants are now available to owners and occupiers of commercial properties within Sleaford town centre. The purpose of the grant scheme is to help reverse the decline and enhance the historic environment in Sleaford conservation area through offering funding towards targeted repairs, reinstatement and replacements of shopfronts. The scheme will focus on reinstating lost or damaged features of historic properties, with a particular emphasis on reinstating traditional shop fronts where modern frontages have been installed.

A fund of £150,000 is available and grants can be offered at up to 90% of the total cost of works. Kickstart your sustainability journey

We’re looking for 300 SMEs in North Kesteven to join the Get Zero Get Zellar project and discover how going green could benefit your business, whilst also saving you money.

North Kesteven District Council is the latest to join the project to boost local net zero progress, and we’re offering free access to Zellar, an online sustainability tool that helps you cut your carbon footprint and energy bills.

Zellar guides you through the process of calculating and understanding your carbon emissions and then building an achievable plan to reduce them, based on the size and sector of your company. You can find more info here.

Tackling meaningful climate action helps a business to stand out in the marketplace and customers want to support eco-friendly enterprises. Taking part in this free programme will make it clear to customers that a business is making a positive impact.

Social media and digital skills training

Businesses in North Kesteven can now get funded access to expert digital skills training and social media tools. It is aimed at improving social media use, and in turn driving increased sales. It is being delivered by the team of experts at Maybe*.

Businesses will have access to over £400 worth of social media tools and training, including everything from where to get started with social media to advanced strategies about how to use Facebook ads to deliver winning sales tactics. This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Rural England Prosperity Fund

Expressions of interest are open for a capital grant scheme which will help rural businesses in North Kesteven invest in sustainable growth.

The Rural Business Grant is specifically aimed at supporting new and existing rural businesses to develop products, services and facilities of wider benefit to the local economy.

Possible examples include farm businesses looking to diversify income streams, growth in the visitor economy including visitor accommodation, and investments in power or energy efficiency which will make a positive contribution to the District reaching net zero.

The grant is being delivered by North Kesteven District Council for DEFRA, under the Rural England Prosperity Fund. The first window for Expressions of Interest is open from now until Thursday 1 June.
