LN6 is Lincolnshire’s most exciting employment location. Strategically located on the A46 (now dualled between Lincoln and Leicester) LN6 is a gateway offering fantastic transport links to the A1, M1 and the main East Midlands network and south to London and Peterborough. North beyond Lincoln, LN6 is well-connected to Grimsby, Hull and the ports of the Humber bank. The Lincoln – Nottingham railway line, connecting to the East Coast Main Line in Newark (12 miles), runs through the LN6 area and has recently had an increase in the number of stopping trains at Hykeham Station in both directions, supporting businesses and residents in the wider LN6 area.
A loose partnership was established to drive economic growth in the area and bring businesses and other agencies together following the publication of the genecon report. Alongside North Kesteven District Council (NKDC), the LN6 partnership brings together Lincolnshire County Council, City of Lincoln Council and the LN6 Business Group as well as a range of Parish and Town Council stakeholders. All partners share the single aim to promote the LN6 area as the default location for growth business, making the most of the opportunities afforded by the strategic development site at Teal Park (35ha), identified as the ‘East Midlands’ Premier Employment Park
Teal Park, anchored by Siemens, offers the opportunity for significant new build development and there is a range of existing industrial and office developments in a variety of well-connected locations in LN6 offering businesses the opportunity to start, grow on and move within the area. There are modern well-established parks and estates suitable for most uses and all types of business.
There remain a number of initiatives that are ongoing in LN6, benefitting both businesses and residents in the area. There is ongoing work with rail operators to improve services and stopping patterns at Hykeham Station and this is something being sought through the refranchising process.
New linkages are also being sought through the area to make it easier and safer to reach employment areas and partners are also pursuing further improvements to transport links through Midlands Connect. The LN6 area remains a key priority for NKDC to invest in as opportunities arise, firmly cementing LN6 as a primary employment area for both North Kesteven and beyond.
