Workplace charging scheme (WCS)

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a voucher-based scheme that provides eligible applicants with support towards the upfront costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints.

The grant covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV ChargePoints (inclusive of VAT), capped at a maximum of: a) £350 per socket; b) 40 sockets across all sites per applicant – for instance, if you would like to install them in 40 sites, you will have 1 socket available per site.

This scheme is open to registered businesses, charities or public sector organisations.

EV Chargepoint Gant

The EV Chargepoint Grant provides funding of up to 75% towards the cost of installing electric vehicle smart ChargePoints at domestic properties across the UK.  In some cases, this grant can be used in conjunction with the WCS.

Grants for plug-in vehicles

Funding is available to manufacturers and distributors of plug-in vehicles.

The scheme allows: 1) a dealer to submit the required information about the vehicle for which a grant is being claimed; 2) A customer purchasing a vehicle to have the PIVG deducted from the vehicle price at the point of sale; 3) All claims to subsequently be verified before any grant is paid out. The Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles (OZEV) then repays grant claims to vehicle manufacturers on a monthly basis.

The grant covers up to 75% of the cost of installing the infrastructure needed for chargepoints to operate and for future chargepoints to be installed, as well as the cost of any chargepoints installed. There is a limit of £15,000 per grant.
